EGYPT - SHARM EL SHEIKH
£ 1,199
Sharm El Sheikh – or Sharm as it’s known locally – planted near the bottom of the Sinai Peninsula. This region of Egypt stocks everything from dune-filled deserts to towering mountain ranges that peak at well over 2,000 metres tall. Sharm lays claim to 35 kilometres of coastline, where apricot-coloured sand slowly sinks into the bath-warm waters of the Red Sea. The water itself stays nice and shallow for the first 20 feet, making it ideal for swimming. The main attraction in this part of Egypt, though, is the scuba diving. You’ve got more than 250 coral reefs to explore, most of which are home to rainbow-coloured schools of fish, sea turtles and stingrays. If you’d prefer to leave the oxygen tank behind, the snorkelling’s just as stellar. The city itself, meanwhile, boasts a coastal plot, meaning that soft belts of sand and paddle-friendly waters are at your fingertips. And, if shopping’s on your to-do list, the lively centre lines up heaps of top-brand-boutiques and bustling bazaars. Right in the centre of Sharm, there’s a big, brash strip. It’s home to the likes of Pacha and the Hard Rock Café, and it pulls in a throng of lively partygoers. Expect everything from music concerts and themed discos to pool and foam parties to pack out the after-dark agenda. For those who like their nights a bit less neon-lit, there’s a good collection of chilled-out cocktail bars on the waterfront. And wherever you go, you’re bound to find some belly dancing. Our Resort – Sharks Bay Sharks Bay is a quieter part of the wider Sharm El Sheikh area. It's pretty laidback and is mostly centred around the great diving that's on offer. Explore the underwater drama of this idyllic spot makes it perfect for watersports lovers  or if you're looking to get started. read more read less

CYPRUS - PAPHOS - WINTER

Singles Holiday to Paphos whisk you back to ancient Greece with temples and colourful mosaics – then the lively nightlife brings you right into the 21st century. An old-meets-new resort According to myth, when Aphrodite rose from the sea she landed at Paphos. Fast-forward a few thousand years, and the old town is straight-up traditional Cyprus, with cobbled streets and shaded pavement cafés. Downhill, meanwhile, there’s a modern harbour packed with bars and restaurants. But the spirit of Aphrodite lives on in the age-old temples and crumbling ruins that are still here to explore. Blue Flag beach The bijou beach here only stretches for around 150 metres, but it’s right in the town centre, so it’s really handy. It’s split into two parts – a sandy part and a wooden, decked area behind it – and both have got plenty of sunloungers. There are a couple of beach bars, but most of the stretch is backed by craggy rocks and overlooked by a Medieval castle. Temples and tombs The town’s history stretches back to Neolithic times, so there’s a mixed heritage here. A must-see is UNESCO’s Tomb of the Kings – these Egyptian catacombs are carved out of solid rock. There’s also the famous House of Dionysos for spectacular Greek mosaics. And up on the hill, the rugged columns of the Temple of Aphrodite frame sweeping sea views. Easy daytripping Talking of Aphrodite, you can see her old baths at Polis, about 40 minutes away. There’s a really good walking trail that starts from here, too. Alternatively, a 90-minute drive gets you to the village of Khirokhitia. The houses here look like little ceramic pots – they date from the Neolithic period, and were home to the earliest known civilisation on Cyprus. Paphos is an ideal choice for a fun and lively holiday.. There’s so much more to paphos though and combined with the fabulous beaches, historical sites and sunshine it’s the perfect destination for single travellers. read more read less
