CASCADES SAFARI LODGE

A top-of-the-range lodge completely redesigned in the heart of nature. It features noble materials for a refined and comfortable safari atmosphere. Located on a private island, surrounded by the Zambezi, it offers a unique and intimate experience. The Lodge consists of 8 spacious bungalows (over 80m²) with ethnic decoration offering all the necessary comfort, as well as a large terrace, private pool and panoramic view.

The lodge has an active surveillance system. After the fall of the night, passengers who wish so may be accompanied in their movements between the common space and their bungalow by a security guard.

    Built in 2018, the RV African Dream is one of the gems of the fleet with a magnificent setting for a dream safari-cruise in Southern Africa, overflowing with history and wildlife. A real cocoon of charm and elegance.

    Combining elegance and exoticism, comfort and refinement, the RV African Dream is a luxury cruise ship, which sails on Lake Kariba. The ship measures 33 m long and 8 m wide, and can accommodate 16 passengers, in 8 cabins with a size of 17 m2. Of all cabins, 6 are with a French balcony and 2 with a small private terrace, offering amenities and providing guests with all the comforts they need during their stay. The spacious areas and large windows give the ship a bright appearance. The interior is decorated with noble wood and local fabrics and blends in perfectly with the splendid surrounding landscapes. Situated on the upper deck are a small pool, the restaurant and lounge/bar where binoculars are available for wildlife and flora watching. The sun deck remains the ideal place to relax and admire Southern Africa’s magnificent sites, which are among the most beautiful in the world.

Day 1: Overnight Flight from London to Johannesburg

Begin your adventure with an overnight flight to Johannesburg, setting the stage for an unforgettable solo journey through the heart of Southern Africa.

Day 2: Johannesburg (South Africa)

Meet your fellow travellers at the hotel at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a welcoming lunch before visiting the Apartheid Museum, an essential look into South Africa's turbulent history (or the Mandela House or Hector Pieterson Museum on alternate days). Afterwards, embark on a panoramic tour of Johannesburg, exploring the dynamic atmosphere of Africa’s financial powerhouse. In the evening, settle into your luxurious five-star hotel before a delicious dinner. Overnight stay in Johannesburg.

Day 3: Johannesburg to Kasane (Botswana) – Transfer to Lodge

Fly from Johannesburg to Kasane, Botswana. Board a private boat to your exclusive lodge, cruising past vibrant birdlife and sunbathing hippos. Upon arrival, relax into your tranquil surroundings before enjoying a gourmet dinner. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Chobe National Park Safari (Namibia-Botswana)

Embark on a full-day jeep safari in Chobe National Park, home to Africa's largest elephant population. Lunch is served in a unique floating restaurant with panoramic river views. In the afternoon, cruise along the Chobe River, exploring Sedudu Island’s lush marshlands. Return to the lodge for dinner and a peaceful night surrounded by nature.

Day 5: Impalila Island (Namibia)

Explore the traditional villages of Impalila Island, learning about local customs and culture. After lunch back at the lodge, spend the afternoon at your leisure—swim in the pool, unwind, or join an optional boat excursion on the Zambezi River. Dinner includes storytelling about the island's unique traditions. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Lodge to Kasane to Lake Kariba – Board the Ship

Enjoy a final morning water safari in the Chobe area before departing for Kasane Airport. Board a private plane for a scenic flight to Kariba, with stunning views of the ever-changing African landscape. Upon arrival, board your ship and settle into your cabin. Cruise across the vast Lake Kariba, taking in its breathtaking, submerged landscapes. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 7: Lake Kariba – Sailing to Spurwing Island (Zimbabwe)

As dawn breaks, sail through the mystical waters of Lake Kariba, dotted with ghostly submerged trees. Explore the hidden waterways of Matusadona National Park on a private boat, discovering untouched coves teeming with wildlife. Relax onboard with lunch before cruising towards Palm Bay. End the day with a sunset boat ride, admiring the golden hues of the sky. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 8: Lake Kariba – Matusadona National Park (Zimbabwe)

Start your day with a safari in Matusadona National Park, where elephants, hippos, and diverse birdlife thrive. Hear the inspiring story of Operation Noah, a wildlife rescue mission during the lake’s formation. After a hearty lunch, continue cruising while learning about the lake's ecosystem in an engaging onboard discussion. Dinner and overnight on the ship.

Day 9: Kariba to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Sail towards Kariba and visit the impressive Kariba Dam, a vital source of Zimbabwe's power supply, steeped in local legends like that of the river god NyamiNyami. Board a flight to Victoria Falls and enjoy an exclusive lunch cruise on the Zambezi River. In the afternoon, take a guided walking tour of the iconic falls, known as the “Smoke that Thunders.” Relax at your four-star hotel before a memorable dinner. Overnight in Victoria Falls.

Day 10: Victoria Falls – Optional Helicopter Tour

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. For an added thrill, opt for an early morning helicopter tour over Victoria Falls (pre-booking required). Later, a domestic flight transfer to the airport for your flight back to Johannesburg, connecting to your evening return flight to London.

Day 11: Morning Arrival in London

What to Pack for Your Safari Cruise

If you're preparing for a safari cruise, prioritising comfort over typical cruise attire is key. For those long-haul flights, we recommend bringing a pair of joggers.

During game drives, opt for lightweight, long-sleeved tees to protect against mosquito bites. While long sleeves are helpful, don't forget to apply insect repellent and sunscreen on exposed areas.

Protecting your eyes is a must, especially on water tours. sunglasses are highly recommended

Since space is limited, packing efficiently is crucial. The daypack with lightweight and expandable, with handy compartments to store binoculars, power banks, water bottles, and snacks, keeping everything within easy reach.
